This variety was created by the scientist Abdufattoh Mosurmonkulov from Marhamat district on the basis of the vaccination of the local variety "Uzbekistan" and the Japanese "Oshima". It is distinguished by the large size of leaves and their density, due to which high yield is ensured. So, if from one hectare of a silk plantation receive 20 tons of leaves, the variety "Marchamat-2017" can yield up to 40 tons of leaves.
"Sericulture is our national value, wealth. Cocoons can be harvested three times a year. Ready-made silk fabrics will make a big profit. We only lack food - leaves of mulberry. The mulberries are obsolete, their yield has decreased. To develop the silk industry, it is necessary to create such intensive and highly productive varieties," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
